Statement:

I paint because I have to--it's how I make sense of my life. My work spans an array of styles--from abstract expressionism to graff to collage and assemblage--and is heavily influenced by the interplay between subject matter and materials, and between idea and execution. Very often I feel like a medium will more choose me than I will choose it. Sometimes my ideas come fully formed, sometimes not, and successful work, to me, is when I am able to both take and relinquish control when needed. Making the work, to me, truly is a conversation.
